Colin George
Deputy Head of Structures, National HighwaysColin George is Deputy Head of Structures at National Highways. He is a Chartered Engineer with over 30 years’ experience in bridge engineering gained in the private and public sectors.
He spent 15 years in the private sector with a firm of consulting engineers where, as Associate Director, he was responsible for leading on bridges and civil engineering structures, as well as business improvement initiatives. He moved to the Highways Agency (now National Highways) in 2000, where he has undertaken roles in the Technical Approval Authority as well as in Structures Policy.
In his current role as Deputy Head of Structures, he oversees the work of all Structures Teams within the Safety, Engineering and Standards directorate, and plays a key role in shaping National Highways’ strategy for structures asset management.
