Kerry Evans

Senior Operations Manager, UK Highways A55 Limited

Kerry is a Chartered Engineer and the Senior Operations Manager for the DBFO on the A55 which extends from Junction 11 to Holyhead and includes the Menai Loop. The Menai Suspension Bridge is an asset within the DBFO for which she is responsible as the Operations Manager.

With 19 years' experience working on all things highways, she also has experience working at NRW working as Project Manager for NFRM and Asset management projects.

She was the Chair of the ICE North Wales Branch 2021 to 2022 and was the CIHT Regional Representative to Council and a member of the Board of Trustees for the CIHT. 

In her spare time Kerry is also the Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Menai Bridge Community Heritage Trust and she is studying a PhD with Leeds Beckett University.

Menai Suspension Bridge Replacement Hanger Project

  • Following installation of emergency temporary fail-safes on the Menai Suspension Bridge in January 2023, a permanent solution was procured and installed between September 2023 and October 2024.
  • 168 defective hangers were replaced on the bridge, whilst temporary fail-safes were kept in place for structural safety throughout the replacement operation. 
  • This talk discusses the details of the project, including the specification, manufacturing, testing and site installation of the replacement hangers.
